スタジャンの発祥はアメリカのベースボールからです。野球プレイのスタンバイ中に投手の肩を保温しておくために、袖を皮革にした選手のユニフォームの一つとして始まります。その特殊なジャケットは同じ野球クラブから北米アメリカの高校や大学へと広がりました。ウールボディと袖革の大胆なツートンカラーはとても目を引くジャケットになりました。そして徐々に野球以外のクラブ活動でもチームのユニフォームにして採用し、試合の時には目立つ応援着にもなりました。
